The most important relationship you have, is the one you have with yourself.
It is the foundation for everything you want to create in your life. Better relationships, healthy lifestyle, success in racing, loving parenting, achieving big goals… it all builds from the relationship you have with yourself. The more you create love, trust and compassion with yourself the more you can show up in the world as your authentic self and the more you can create and expand your capacity for love.
But how many times do these thoughts roll around in your head?
“I will never”
“I am so stupid”
“I hate xyz about myself”
“I am a terrible mom”
“I am just not talented”
“I am a failure”
"I will never be good enough"
When we think a thought over and over again, it creates a self belief. It is from our self belief that we create the world around us. If I think over and over I am a failure. Guess what? I am going to believe I am a failure. What will I create? More failures which provides my brain evidence that I am in fact a failure. The cycle continues over and over again.
What if instead, you could separate your thoughts and actions from your self belief?
This is what self love is. Safety
It is trusting yourself to have your own back, no matter what.
I can say and do anything, I might not like my actions and choose different ones next time, but I will forgive and love myself no matter what.
Self love creates a safe place within yourself. A harbor where you will always find forgiveness and compassion.
This means, when you lie, fail, give up, lose your temper, eat too much food… you do not tell yourself you are a failure, a liar, fat, out of control. You do not criticize your actions and make it mean something about yourself. You can hold space for yourself when you don’t show up how you want to and you don't make it mean something about the core of who you are.
Imagine if you knew, no matter what, you would find forgiveness and love within yourself. That when something “went wrong” you didn't have to worry about what you would make it mean about you.
How would that change your self belief?
